European rugby returned on the weekend with all 16 URC sides back in action across the Investec Champions Cup and Challenge Cup.
We witnessed some fantastic finishes and memorable moments, with six URC teams booking their place in the knockout stages of the competitions already.
Here were three standout players we loved watching in Round 3 of EPCR action.
Joshua Kenny – Leinster 🔵
Joshua Kenny is the latest in a long line of world-class wingers plucked from Leinster’s elite talent pool. Tasked with filling the boots of James Lowe’s prestigious no. 11 shirt, Kenny scored twice within the first eight minutes as his side edged out a 25-24 win against La Rochelle, in his Champions Cup debut, no less.
Kenny’s first try was a piece of solo brilliance – fast hands from the likes of Tommy O’Brien and Ciarán Frawley before a flying finish by the left hand touchline after only 150 seconds. Talk about setting an intent.
Just five minutes later, superstar signing Rieko Ioane charged down a La Rochelle exit kick, bouncing perfectly for Kenny to walk over the line, doubling his tally in the same far corner.
Aged just 22 years old, Kenny is beginning to cement himself as a Leinster regular, having dotted down a whopping eight tries in only six appearances in his debut campaign for the men in blue. This form means his hat is firmly in the ring to make his Irish debut in this year’s Six Nations, as Andy Farrell’s side look to bounce back after a disappointing third place finish in 2025.
Jacob Umaga – Benetton 🦁
Jacob Umaga is quietly having one of those seasons in the Benetton 10 shirt. Sitting second In the URC Golden Boot race, Umaga has been steering Treviso’s ship all season long, and now has them qualified for the Challenge Cup knockouts with a game to spare.
Benetton took the headlines on Saturday afternoon after a rampant 74-21 thumping over URC companions Dragons RFC. Umaga in particular had a game to remember, dictating proceedings from minute one to 80. His play style radiated meaningful tempo and fast execution, reflected in clinical assists for Onisi Ratave and Louis Lynagh’s tries.
A faultless display for the fly-half was capped off by two tries of his own – the first, a well-timed strike under the the sticks to finish off a mazing Lynagh run, before a superbly timed intercept and a 50-metre jog through an empty backfield.
This now makes it four wins in the last five for Benetton, whose only loss in that time was a one point heartbreak, losing a 14-15 thriller at the hands of Edinburgh.
Huw Jones – Glasgow Warriors ⚔️
Huw Jones marked his first Glasgow Warriors appearance since May 2025 with a fabulous try in a 21-33 win on the road against Clermont in the Champions Cup.
Jones has been sidelined with a knee injury he sustained on his debut British and Irish Lions tour to Australia this summer. The Scottish international started all three tests against the Wallabies in the 13 shirt, and scored one try on tour.
It took just seventeen minutes for Jones to strike in his first game in a Warriors shirt this season, crossing the whitewash after showcasing his blistering speed to pierce a hard line through Clermont’s midfield.
Jones topped the charts in metres made, a familiar stat to his game, notching 92 on the day. Alongside this, Jones beat five defenders and contributed directly to another try as well as his own, making him a constant attacking threat all afternoon.
