Glasgow Warriors v Exeter Chiefs at Scotstoun sees the English side come calling top of the pool on 19 points and Glasgow stranded on nine, but Dave Rennie’s men know a bonus-point win followed by the same at Sale next week would likely see them through.

Team News

Rennie has made 11 changes to the team that won so impressively away at Benetton Rugby last weekend, with Glenn Bryce coming in at full-back.

Oli Kebble comes into the front row to join Fraser Brown and Zander Fagerson while Scott Cummings and Jonny Gray both return to the starting XV.

Matt Fagerson and Adam Hastings also return, while Ali Price comes back onto the bench.

Meanwhile Exeter, who have signed second row Gray for next season, include former Warriors man Stuart Hogg at full-back alongside Jack Nowell and Olly Woodburn in the back three.

Joe Simmonds and Nic White are the half-backs while new additions South Africans Jannes Kirsten and Jacques Vermeulen are in the pack.

Form

Glasgow’s form is mixed in the Guinness PRO14, with their last five reading win-loss-win-loss-win, but that 38-19 victory at Benetton last time out will certainly have boosted confidence.

The two losses in that time came away at Edinburgh and home to the mighty Leinster, not exactly bankers, while the Champions Cup has been a similar tale of mixed fortunes.

The 27-24 comeback win away at La Rochelle in Round 3 was nothing short of spectacular but to lose at home to the same side in the reverse was incredibly frustrating – Saturday is the time to fix the issue.

Meanwhile the Chiefs are in ominous form in Europe – four wins from four – while they also lead the English Premiership with six wins in eight.

Prediction

This looks a superbly-matched contest with both teams desperate for victory, but we’re going for the Warriors to win by the narrowest of margins with their backs against the wall.

Men like Huw Jones, George Horne and Adam Hastings are in superb form and let’s not forget Exeter have come calling before with a loud reputation, and sent home packing in January 2018 as the Warriors won 28-21 in an excellent display of running rugby.
