Of the players to exit the pool stages of this year’s World Cup with reputation enhanced, few caught the eye quite as much as Edinburgh’s Jamie Ritchie. Ok, so Semi Radradra was a joke, perhaps the best rugby player on the planet after his ultimately futile Fijian fireworks. But Ritchie’s showings on the openside for Scotland were so impressive that he looked born for the big stage. Scotland’s loss therefore, is certainly Edinburgh’s gain. Their returning international contingent will add much to a side that have already made an impressive start to the Guinness PRO14 season without them.
