There was another weekend of stunning Guinness PRO14 rugby as Round 16 was played out with a glut of glorious tries. It was a feast of attacking rugby, with five of the seven matches topping the 60-point mark. Conference leaders Leinster and Munster both grabbed wins to solidify their positions at the top of their respective Conference tables. With an array of scores to choose from, here are our top five tries from Round 16. George Horne for Glasgow Warriors vs Connacht The hosts’ opening score stole the limelight scrum-half George Horne made the most of a break from a slick move from inside their own half. He was the beneficiary of an incisive break from Kyle Steyn out wide, who offloaded for the No.9 to race in from the 22-metre line. Rabs Maxwane for Toyota Cheetahs vs Scarlets The danger from the Guinness PRO14’s top try-scorer is always present but all Rabs Maxwane had to do in this instance was provide a finish. Breaking from inside their own half, the South African outfit found room outside for Junior Pokomela, who streaked away at pace before his offload. It was wayward but his back-row colleague Abongile Nonkontwana kicked on twice, including a second with the outside of his boot from hip height, before the ball bounced kindly for Maxwane to touch down for his 12th score in the competition. Nathan Fowles for Edinburgh Rugby vs Cardiff Blues Another opening score makes a bid to be crown the best of the week and Nathan Fowles’ try all started with a powerful break from hooker David Cherry. His bustling run took the hosts inside the 22 before his offload, while still rolling during the tackle, found teammate Fowles. The scrum-half hit the ball at pace as he raced clear to touch down. Luca Sperandio for Benetton Rugby vs Dragons Italian full-back Luca Sperandio grabbed two scores against the Dragons and it was his second which showcased his skill as they secured the bonus-point at Stadio Monigo. It followed a powerful hand-off and break from Toa Halafihi, who set free Alberto Sgarbi before it was sent wide to Sperandio for the try. Tom Daly for Connacht vs Glasgow Warriors With the score coming at 38-10 down, the contest was probably over at Scotstoun, but inside centre Tom Daly made the most of a scintillating break late on. Tiernan O’Halloran’s diagonal kick from inside his own half was gathered on the run by Cian Kelleher, who evaded a tackle before offloading to Kyle Godwin – who freed Daly to touch down.
