Long tipped for great things, he has had to serve an apprenticeship behind Tommaso Allan and Ian McKinley.

But having leapfrogged the latter and with the former still getting over his Japanese exertions, Rizzi has been extremely impressive despite Benetton’s sluggish star.

Demetri Catrakilis has come home this season to South Africa, and is charged with getting the Isuzu Southern Kings up and running.

The fly-half has kicked more penalties than anyone else in the league so far, but is yet to get the backline really clicking.

That will be the challenge this week away to Benetton.

Conor Fitzgerald

Another impressive young fly-half has been Connacht’s Conor Fitzgerald.

And while the return of Jack Carty might limit the young man’s minutes, the Sportsground faithful now know they have a star of the future on their hands.

This week will be a good test for him against the high-flying Cheetahs.
