The off-season is the perfect opportunity for Guinness PRO14 teams to rebuild, recover and rethink their strategy before the 2019-20 campaign roars into view.

Whether you are six-time champions Leinster or any other side looking to make a splash next term, there are always improvements and alterations that can be made over the summer and sometimes, a good pre-season can end up being a key driving factor behind any success.

Here’s a look at how the protagonists of the Guinness PRO14 have been keeping busy this summer.

Cardiff Blues have been taking fans behind the scenes again with their YouTube series #BluesUncovered.

The Welshmen released seven episodes of the series last summer with interviews, footage from the training ground, and lots more to keep you entertained, so keep your eyes peeled for more of that on their channels.

Meanwhile, regional rivals Dragons have announced former prop Sam Hobbs, who made 42 appearances for the club between 2016 and 2018, has returned to the club as their academy forwards coach.

As far as the first-team squad are concerned, spinning classes and aqua-aerobics have been on the pre-season agenda, with some mammoth refuelling sessions afterwards.

Edinburgh Rugby, however, have been having having little bit of fun during the off-season by testing out one another’s knowledge of Love Island.

But despite the fun and games, there has been some serious work taking place both on the training ground and in the gym.

Champions Leinster are giving very little away at this early stage but they have released their new alternate kit for next season – a deep purple number.

Munster’s four-week pre-season training stint is under way, starting with some gym and strength and conditioning work in some nice new training kit.

Senior coach Stephen Larkham is expected to link up with the rest of the squad in August and forwards coach Graham Rowntree will join after his World Cup commitments with Georgia.

Back in Wales, Ospreys put out a video to show fans what has been going on during the first week of their preparations.

And Scarlets have revealed that Brad Mooar’s first game in charge will be in their pre-season opening fixture against Jersey Reds on September 7.

Mooar is yet to take charge at Parc y Scarlets following the departure of Wayne Pivac and will remain with his current club Crusaders until later this summer.
