The curtain has come down on the Guinness PRO14 regular season with the Final Series spots decided in a typical round of explosive rugby.

Glasgow Warriors finished on top of Conference A with victory over Edinburgh while Munster had to settle for second-best, despite winning their game against Connacht.

And with the top two spots already settled in Conference B, Benetton made history by becoming the first Italian side to make it to the play-offs as they joined Leinster and Ulster.

And in amongst all of that there were some stunning tries scored – no surprises there of course – so let’s take a look at the best of the bunch:

Jack Dixon – Dragons v Scarlets

Dragons ended their season with a narrow 34-32 win over Scarlets thanks to a Matthew Screech double but it was teammate Jack Dixon who scored the pick of the bunch.

Hallam Amos played a lovely give and go with Richard Wainwright for the winger to run into space and once he had it took a simple inside ball to Dixon to dive over and put Dragons back ahead at a crucial stage in the match.

Monty Ioane – Benetton v Zebre

Benetton became the first Italian side to reach the Guinness PRO14 Final Series with a derby win over Zebre with Ioane’s try proving to be history-making differential between the two sides.

Tommaso Allan exploited the onrushing Zebre defence and played a looping miss-pass out to Ioane on the wing, who still had the hard yards to make, to bulldoze through the wide cover and grab the crucial score.

Gareth Anscombe – Cardiff Blues v Ospreys

Despite being on the losing side, Gareth Anscombe managed to score 18 of his team’s 23 points including a worldie of a try.

Owen Lane was the first to break the Ospreys line, jagging and weaving past defenders before Lloyd Williams took over and eventually found Anscombe flying up into the line from full-back

He still had a lot to do but showed strength, guile and determination to get himself over the line.

Tadhg Beirne – Munster v Connacht

Munster were still gunning for top spot in Conference A when they welcomed Connacht to Thomond Park, but even victory wasn’t enough to secure it – they will now face Benetton in the semi-finals.

But Beirne was the one to get the ball rolling for the Munstermen and showed some outrageously nimble footwork for a man of 6ft 6in to dance past Niyi Adeolokun and go over.

Tommy Seymour – Glasgow Warriors v Edinburgh

Glasgow Warriors ensured they will play a home semi-final with victory over Edinburgh but had to wait until the 74th minute before the try of the game was scored.

George Horne scampered clear of a maul in his own 22 before nudging a kick 50 metres down the field for Stuart Hogg to collect and offload to Tommy Seymour to wrap up the bonus point.
