Glasgow Warriors and Scarlets had contrasting starts to the 2018⁄19 Guinness PRO14 season with the former now under huge pressure when they host the Welsh side in Round 2. A heavy defeat in Bloemfontein leaves the Warriors behind the eight-ball early in the season – and we have seen how crucial that can be – but they can get back on track against a team they know well. After all, the Scarlets went to Glasgow and produced a blistering display in the semi-final two years ago at Scotstoun, while last year it was the Warriors who exacted a measure of revenge. Their Round 10 meeting was a thrilling affair, with Glasgow overcoming an early red card to get the better of their visitors. It was quite remarkable considering Alex Allan was given his marching orders after just 18 minutes for a no-arms tackle on Jake Ball. But with fly-half Brandon Thomson pulling the strings – as he likely will do again tomorrow night – the Warriors were able to open up a sizable lead, and eventually hang on for a 29-20 victory.
