Domestically he burst onto the scene with the Scarlets and had 14 tries to his name by the time he turned 21.

A move to Northampton Saints saw him cross the Severn Bridge, but last summer he made his return to Wales.

It was the Ospreys who won the race to sign North, who scored two tries on debut and finished his maiden campaign in Swansea with six tries in all.

As the Ospreys continued to grow under Allen Clarke, North will be looking to write another chapter in what has already been an action-filled career.

2. Ruan Pienaar (Toyota Cheetahs)

Now we come to Pienaar. A legend in Belfast thanks to his seven-year stay with Ulster where he ran the show from scrum-half, or fly-half if required.

He departed in 2017, always with a promise to return to Belfast when he called time on his career, so few would have expected him to play in the Guinness PRO14 again.

After two years at Montpellier, however, he joined up with the Toyota Cheetahs over the summer, raising the excitement over his Guinness PRO14 comeback.

Before that, he helped the Cheetahs to their sixth Currie Cup title, and then grabbed a try in a comprehensive win over Glasgow Warriors in the first round of Guinness PRO14 action last week.

It is fair to say it has been an impressive return already. Next up just happens to be a match-up with Ulster in Bloemfontein!

1. Isa Nacewa/Johnny Sexton (Leinster)

Again, cheating a little, but it is hard to look past or split Isa Nacewa and Johnny Sexton for the most anticipated returns in the history of the Guinness PRO14.

Between 2008 and 2013 the pair helped Leinster to three European titles and one Guinness PRO14 crown, with Sexton adding in one more the season prior to Nacewa’s arrival in Dublin.

However at the end of the 2013 campaign Sexton departed to France to play for Racing Métro, as they were then called, while Nacewa hung up his boots and returned to New Zealand.

He spent two years there, working as a skills coach for the Blues, but in 2015 he came out of retirement to rejoin Leinster on a one-year deal.
