Scarlets head coach Simon Easterby has revealed that his side are desperate to put things right after last week’s loss to the Ospreys.

The current RaboDirect PRO12 leaders fell to a first defeat of the season at home to their Welsh rivals last Friday, 23-16.

They will look to bounce back at the Stadio Monigo against Treviso , who have won just once in their opening four fixtures.

And Easterby admits his team showed an added determination since their derby disappointment.

He said: “We clearly weren’t good enough last weekend and the players knew across the board when they came into work on Monday.

“But we’ve parked that frustration and move on and the great thing about the league is that just a few days later you have the chance to put things right and we’ve been working hard on our preparations and challenge against Treviso.

“Playing at home, Treviso will have the ability to confront you in the pack and we are disappointed with the way we dealt with the Ospreys and that’s been a big part of our focus this week and our forwards want to rectify some of the mistakes of last weekend.

“With three wins out of four we’re in a good position and we know we’ve played some good rugby in our opening games.

“We were stopped from doing that last weekend and we’re not going to let that happen again.

“We have another big derby game back at home next week against the Dragons – then it’s Europe, so there’s plenty of focus and drive to regain lost ground in this group.”

Easterby has made six changes from the side which lost to the Ospreys, one of which sees Jordan Williams return at full-back.

Gareth Maule and Gareth Davies also start in the backline while up front the pack is bolstered by Matthew Rees, Sione Timani and Jonathan Edwards.

Treviso head coach Franco Smith has picked a side consisting of 14 Italian internationals, with Tommaso Iannone the only player without any international experience.

Smith said: “We know they will want to put right last week's loss but we are tired and fed up of coming close so I think it will be a battle not to be missed.

"It should be a great spectacle, like our matches against Leinster and Ospreys, because Scarlets are a very strong side.

"They've always had the idea of playing rugby with a freedom of style and by passing the ball around.

"They have great attacking threats like (Rhys) Priestland, (George) North and Jonathan Davies.

"But now they have reinforced their pack and are more of a complete team.

"They have a coach (Simon Easterby) who used to play in the back row and you see his effect because they are more forward-orientated.

"They have always had great capacity in the backs but now they a very balanced team, with young players who have a lot of potential and desire."
