Ospreys back row Dan Baker insists his side have to forget the disappointment of last week’s display if they are to succeed in their key GUINNESS PRO12 clash with Glasgow Warriors on Saturday.

The Ospreys fell to a 24-16 defeat in Edinburgh to lose their position at the summit of the PRO12 table, with this week’s opponents leapfrogging them following a bonus-point win at Zebre.

Just four points separate the quartet of clubs at the top, with both of the sides in this fixture able to sit first come Sunday evening.

But if the Welsh side are to make that move, Baker knows they must see a marked rise in the quality of their performance at Scotstoun.

“Glasgow are top of the table, so it’s always going to be a tough game against them, and if we can win up there it will be massive,” Baker said.

“We know we must improve, because last week was up there as one of our worst displays of the season.

“Everyone was frustrated. We missed opportunities in the first half, and it carried on throughout the game.

“We gave away five penalties in the first 20 minutes in stupid areas, but we’ve worked hard in training this week and hopefully fixed those problems.

“I think we need to win our next three games – if we do that, I think we’ll be on for the semi-finals.”

Jonathan Spratt comes back into the centres to partner Josh Matavesi for the Ospreys, with Dafydd Howells replacing Richard Fussell on the wing.

Ryan Bevington, Scott Baldwin and Aaron Jarvis link up in a brand new front row from the one that started at Myreside, while skipper Tyler Ardron moves from No.8 to link up with Tevita Cavubati in the second row.

Steve Tandy is also able to select Wales flanker Justin Tipuric, who moves straight into the back row.

For the Warriors, Niko Matawalu lines up on the wing to accommodate scrum-half Ali Price in his first start at Scotstoun.

Richie Vernon and Fraser Lyle continue their partnership in the midfield, with DTH van der Merwe also retaining his spot on the wing.

In the pack Ryan Grant and Rossouw de Klerk replace Alex Allan and Michael Cusack at loose-head and tight-head respectively, and Leone Nakarawa starts alongside Al Kellock in the second row.

Josh Strauss is the final change from the side that triumphed in Italy last weekend, moving from the bench to kick-off at No.8.

And Glasgow head coach Gregor Townsend will be hoping the changes won't disrupt his side’s momentum, having won their last two PRO12 fixtures heading into this pivotal clash.

“We were pleased with our win last weekend, but there are aspects of our game which we need to improve, particularly our work in contact,” Townsend said.

“Ospreys have performed consistently well in the league this season and are just four points behind us, so this is a very important game for both sides.”
