Edinburgh lock Anton Bresler will win his 50th cap for Edinburgh on Friday night but personal accolades could not be further from his mind.

The Scottish side head to Munster for a crunch Guinness PRO12 clash that neither side can afford to lose in the battle for a top-six finish and European Champions Cup rugby next season.

Edinburgh Rugby have won three of their last five Guinness PRO12 fixtures but away from home their only victory since early January was by a single point at Newport Gwent Dragons on 27 March.

They have also only beaten Munster once in their last eight meetings but Bresler is confident his side can match them this weekend.

"We have a really challenging game tomorrow. We know how tough the Irish provinces are at home – we were reminded of that last time out against Leinster – but we'll be going all out to ensure we stay in the top six going into our last game,” he said.

"With the final match of the season at home, it would be fantastic to have a great home crowd at BT Murrayfield cheering us on to reach the upper level of European competition next season.”

The 6ft 6in Namibian-born second row arrived at the club at the start of 2014/15 making 26 appearances – 23 starts – last season and 23 to date, just one off the bench, this term.

He added: "It's a huge honour to be named in this side to earn my 50th cap for Edinburgh.

"Since the day I arrived, the club have really welcomed me and I love the family environment we've created. I'm really enjoying my time here.”

Alan Solomons has made three changes to the starting XV who secured a losing bonus point on their last outing.

Full-back Blair Kinghorn retains his spot, the teenager's 16th appearance for the club in his debut season, while Damien Hoyland and Tom Brown continue their partnership on the wings.

A change at centre sees Matt Scott return at outside centre with Andries Strauss at inside, following injury to Phil Burleigh last time out. On-loan Jason Tovey remains at stand-off with Sean Kennedy moving from the bench to start at scrum-half.

The pack, meanwhile is unchanged, the Scotland front row of Alasdair Dickinson, Ross Ford and WP Nel are retained while the locks are Bresler and Ben Toolis.

The back row is Jamie Ritchie on the blindside, John Hardie at openside and Cornell Du Preez at No.8.
Munster head coach Anthony Foley makes five changes to his side.

Four changes are seen in the pack with Dave Kilcoyne, Niall Scannell, Dave Foley and Dave O'Callaghan all retuning to the starting XV.

Kilcoyne and Scannell join Stephen Archer in the front row, Foley overcomes an ankle injury to partner Billy Holland in the second row, while back row O'Callaghan has rehabbed knee bruising to start at six in a move that sees captain CJ Stander revert to eight with Tommy O'Donnell remaining at seven.

The final change comes in the back three where Andrew Conway joins Keith Earls and full-back Simon Zebo.

The Munstermen's 12-match winning run in Cork ended when Ospreys beat them there on 14 February and Stander knows what is at stake.

"Edinburgh are going to come out looking to win the game, so we need to match that attitude. They are ahead of us in the league. We want to be where they are,” he said.

"Everyone knows what is on the line for us this week and everyone is concentrated on Edinburgh."
