**Scarlets and Munster enjoyed promising 2019/20 Guinness PRO14 campaigns but, as they embark on a fresh season, both sides may rue what might have been.** \n\nThe Welsh outfit only narrowly missed out on a Semi-Final spot thanks to their opening round Irish opponents, who suffered all too familiar last-four heartache at the hands of Leinster. \n\nNevertheless there is fresh optimism at both Parc y Scarlets and Thomond Park that things are looking up. \n\nScarlets, possessing a hugely talented squad, enjoyed a revival last season and will be aiming to go at least one better this time around while Munster will be eyeing improvement in the form of first place in Conference B. \n\nRevenge will be on the mind for the hosts as we should be treated to a real spectacle between two potential challengers to Leinster’s crown. \n\n**What’s at stake?**\n\nBoth sides will want to get out of the blocks quickly as they attempt to stamp their mark on a hugely competitive Conference B that also features last season’s dark horses Edinburgh as well as Connacht. \n\nThe omens are with Scarlets, who have been in good form since rugby’s resumption and appear on an upward trajectory since Glenn Delaney took over in February. \n\nThe Welsh outfit are particularly strong at home, having lost just once on their own turf in the Championship in their last nine fixtures. \n\nMunster, meanwhile, have been hamstrung by their away performances of late with eight defeats in the past two seasons – the polar opposite to their own impressive showings at home.
