The visitors had trailed by 10 points at the break but had come storming back in the second period and looked set for the win before they were denied by Burke’s slotting the last kick of the game.

First half tries from Anthony Horgan, Denis Leamy, Shaun Payne and Christian Cullen had secured a first half bonus point for Munster as they led 24-14 at the break but until the dying minutes Michael Bradley’s side must have felt that this was their chance to gain a first win over Munster in 21 outings as Niall O’Brien, Conor McPhillips and Adrian Clarke all crossed.

O’Brien had opened the scoring within the first 10 minutes after Matt Mostyn had drawn the defence, with Australian Paul Warwick adding the extras.
However only moment s later Warwick’s clearance was charged down by Mike Prendergast which allowed Munster to build the platform for Horgan to score

After only 20 minutes Leamy had increased the Munster lead, with Burke converting and despite dropping to 14 men Munster moved further ahead when Payne got their third try. Cullen added the fourth but Warwick brought the men from the west back in the second period with a penalty before Clarke was driven over by the superb Connacht pack.

Warwick put the visitors 27-24 ahead in the closing stages before Burke stepped up to square the match with the last kick of the game.
