The Lions registered their third straight Celtic victory with a display of power and pace that their hosts had no answer for.

Early indications were that this was going to be a boot dual, with Glasgow’s Dan Parks opening the scoring with a penalty, only for Brian O’Meara to equalise soon after.

But it was soon apparent that was not to be the case when Warriors Parks was off-target with a drop-goal bid and another penalty goal attempt.
Leinster took control before the break when Peter McKenna broke the deadlock with a well worked try following good phase play from the visiting forwards. O’Meara slotted the conversion from the widest possible angle, then extended the advantage to 13-points by nailing two penalties.

Leinster stepped up a gear after the restart and scored a quick try to emphasise their superiority.
This time McKenna fed full-back Gordon D’Arcy who had the time and space to trot behind the posts to give O’Meara an easy conversion.

He followed up with penalty number four before Glasgow at last broke the Irish defence when substitute Rory McKay touched down after a fine run by Gareth Maclure. Calvin Howarth added the extras, but they were mealy a consolation.

The Lions Aidan Kearney snatched an interception try in the final minutes as the visitors rubbed salt into Glasgow’s wounds.
