The Border Reivers were rocked by a five try mauling at the hands of Munster on Friday night. The home side had competed well in the opening exchanges before a Jeremy Manning penalty opened Munster’s account which was followed by tries before the break by Shaun Payne and Frankie Sheahan. Manning slotted the conversion to make the gap 15 points – leaving the hosts with a tough task to get back into the contest. But any hopes of a fightback were dashed as the Irishmen rattled up three more tries in quick succession through Alan Quinlan, Tim McGann and Jerry Flannery – all converted by substitute Eoghan Hickey.
