The home team took the lead with a Matt Lacey try after just 5 minutes, the pack driving over the rolling maul following a line out close to the visitors line. From a successful start they were never headed at any stage in the game.

New signing, Australian stand-off Paul Warwick, added the second try after 36 minutes, the forwards again doing all the work from a line out, but this time passing the ball out the stand off for the first of the14 points he contributed on the day.

Having gained an earlier penalty through Dan Parks, Glasgow Rugby added a try of their own just before half time, Kenny Logan starting and finishing the move that saw him score on his first game in the Celtic League after his summer signing from Heineken Champions, London Wasps.

Connacht turned round with a 14-8 lead, which they soon expanded; centre Matt Mostyn claiming the honours this time following a break by fellow centre James Downey from his own 10 metre line.

Glasgow Rugby rallied part way through the second, benefiting from a man advantage, but were back on par when Parks converted his own try to bring them within one score of Connacht. Those were the last points the visitors put on the board.

Warwick added a penalty just before he was replaced having been successful with 4 out of his 5 kicks during the game. Eric Elwood’s appearance inspired the home team to claim the last word, John Muldoon’s 73rd minute pushover try securing not only the victory but the bonus point as well.
