The Ospreys scored a maximum point win over an inexperienced Dragons side at Rodney Parade to keep themselves firmly in the hunt for the Magners League title. Shane Williams sparked for the Ospreys – scoring two of their four tries, with Andy Lloyd and Filo Tiatia also crossing. The Ospreys will now eye a maximum point win over the Reivers on Saturday night which could see the Magners League trophy on its way to the Liberty Stadium. Williams and Jason Spice both produced fine performances for the Ospreys as they controlled affairs throughout. Although they trailed 3-0 to an Aled Thomas penalty early on Andy Lloyd bulled over for their first try after a quarter of an hour and from there the title contenders never looked back. Williams scored on either side of half time – and when Tiatia gathered a line out throw unopposed close to the Dragons line and charged over the bonus point was secured after only 48 minutes. To their credit The Dragons battled hard to the end with Michael Owen in fine form in their back row. The Ospreys management will be concerned with only a four day turn around until their final game in the Borders as they were forced to defend hard to the end with Gareth Maule claiming a late consolation try for the home side.
