After losing thier 15 match unbeaten home run in the league to the Oaspreys on Tuesday night the Scarlets bounced back in style on Sunday, running in six converted tries to swamp Edinburgh. Prolific try scorer Matthew Watkins was again on the mark with two touchdowns, while Stephen Jones, who scored the opener collected a total of 15 points. It was Edinburgh who had opened the scoring through a Phil Godman penalty but the Scarlets soon hit back with first Jones and then Watkins, who picked up a 60 metre intercept, and Regan King crossed, with Jones converting all three to set up a 21-3 lead after little more than 20 minutes. The visitors tried to hit back, and Allan Jacobsen barged over from close range, with Godman converting to make it 21-10 at the break. However their was more of the same from the Scarlets in the second period. Scot Macleod collected the bonus point for the Scarlets with Jones again converting and despite a quick riposte from David Callam the Scarlets stayed in their stride with Watkins bagging his second on the hour and Iestyn Thomas completing the rout with the Region’s sixth try
