**Johann van Graan believes new Munster signing RG Snyman has the potential to be one of the [best players in the world](https://www.the42.ie/van-graan-snyman-munster-5152459-Jul2020/).**\n\nThe pair first met when Snyman was just 13 at Afrikaanse Hoer Seunskool, and later coached him at South Africa Under-20s level.\n\nSnyman, who was part of the Springboks team that won the World Cup last year, is one of two South Africans to have joined Munster since lockdown, with centre Damien de Allende also on the books.\n\nThe pair can feature right away and Van Graan is particularly excited to see his new second row in action.\n\n“I’ve known RG for a long time, the important thing to note about him is that he’s a different rugby player. He’s different to your normal lock,” he said.\n\n“He’s versatile. He’s one of the quickest locks I’ve seen. You’ve got to have balance in the back, so he’ll certainly give us some of that offloading ability because of his length.\n\n“He’s a phenomenal athlete in terms of what he can do, I just think he’s got potential to be one of the very best rugby players in the world.”\n\n[The Irish Times is also reporting](https://www.irishtimes.com/sport/rugby/van-graan-says-carbery-will-only-make-munster-return-when-he-s-100-ready-1.4306392) that Van Graan will not rush fly-half Joey Carbery back to action.
