Guinness PRO14 Fantasy Rugby is the game for talent-spotters and arm-chair pundits, bar-stool rugby bores and those of you who just fancy creating a dream team of international superstars.

Playing is easy. Your team now only has to feature eight players – three forwards and five backs – plus a team defence.

As always, your players earn you points with their on-field performances in the Guinness PRO14.

Each week, you can fight for prizes and unlock awards for your virtual trophy room, your own personalised space that by the end of the season could be dripping with silverware and smugness in equal measure.

Join at any time during the season. Here’s how to play…

Select your team

The first, and arguably most important step, is to select your troops. Remember, this is about winning, not about who you want to invite round for a barbecue.

You get the choice of three forwards and five backs, with a team defence to top things off, before picking one of them as your designated kicker.

Once complete, hit Save My Team and proceed.

Invite your mates to a league

This is not just a game, but a competition. Your witty league name is good, but it wasn’t worth the half a day thinking about it.

Set up a league by hitting the My Leagues tab, where you can create, join and manage your leagues; it’s as simple as it sounds.

Yes, you’re now cheering for a team you don’t like. You need to get over it.

In all seriousness, though, it’s important to keep abreast of all the goings on: who’s hot, who’s not; who’s on the rise and who’s on the tumble – it’s the only way to maintain a successful fantasy team.

Check your score

Are you winning? That’s confirmation that you know more about rugby than your mates and they need to know it.

Head over to the Leaderboards tab to find out where you rank in all of your leagues, as well as the overall and team-specific standings.

If you’re doing well, you can monitor your trophies as well as the prizes up for grabs at the relevant tabs.

Go again

Start thinking about team selection. Click the Team tab and make any changes you feel need to be made.

Hit Confirm Transfers and they will come into play for the next gameweek.

And finally, with all of the excitement, make sure you remember to feed the cat this week.
