“Fair play, Dwayne put a really good plan together,” he said.

“Our first try came off exactly what he’d shown the lads and explained what we needed to do, and we executed it perfectly, and our set plays I thought worked really well.

“The players out on the pitch had to do a job as well, and I thought Stu McCloskey was immense today.”

Rennie’s rampaging replacements do the trick in Treviso

It was away day glory for Glasgow as Dave Rennie’s men recorded a convincing 38-19 victory over Benetton on Italian soil.

A George Horne double and tries from Sam Johnson, Nikola Matawalu, Andrew Davidson and Peter Horne proved enough for the resurgent Scottish side, and head coach Rennie was full of praise for his forwards who came off the bench to seal the victory.

“Clearly they had dominance at the scrum and caused us a bit of hassle, but we rode it out pretty well, and the guys off the bench did a really good job round the scrum,” he said.

“It’s an important win for us over here – we know they’re a really good side who ask a lot of questions of you.

“It’s five points that get us going again, so it’s an important start to our second part of the competition.”
