A few weeks in and the Guinness PRO14 Fantasy Rugby game is shaping up nicely but how will the festive period impact your team?

Derby days don’t necessarily stick to the form sheet and finding those star players who will put in an excellent performance is crucial.

Recent form, opposition, injuries and the thrill of festive derbies all need to be considered.

Here are five selections who could be in for a bumper weekend in fantasy land:

Steff Evans (Scarlets)

It might have been a heart-breaking defeat in Round 8 at the hand of Dragons but Scarlets still put in a solid performance to run them close.

A quick turnaround and reaction are what is expected of Brad Mooar’s men as they face Ospreys, who still only have one win to their name.

One Scarlets talisman who could be vital is Steff Evans, already picked by 30.8% of players but will he deliver a boxing day treat?

Marco Manfredi (Zebre)

Losing to your rivals at home in the first of the festive derbies will only spur on Zebre to reverse the result when they travel to Treviso.

Marco Manfredi came off the bench last week to score for Michael Bradley’s side, but his exploits were not enough for the win.

The hooker has the opportunity to turn the fortunes around this weekend.

JJ Hanrahan (Munster)

A metronomic boot is always key, especially when conditions don’t favour free-flowing rugby.

Munster fly-half JJ Hanrahan scored kicked 14 points for his side in their victory over Connacht when each team scored one try apiece.

Tough opposition comes in the way of unbeaten Leinster but expect Hanrahan to continue his consistency.

Greg Jones (Ulster)

In a high-scoring affair against Leinster, Ulster came out on the wrong side of the result losing 54-42 but what a thrilling match.

Back-rower Greg Jones was one of Dan McFarland’s star men as he scored Ulster’s fourth and fifth tries of the evening.

Heading into the game against Connacht, both sides are sat second in their respective conferences and after thrilling first derby day encounters and Jones will be looking to continue his momentum.

Edinburgh defence

Despite the loss to, Edinburgh’s defence still rank second in the fantasy and have amassed 75.05 points.

The return trip falls on December 28 and expect Richard Cockerill’s men to go all out and try to get some festive revenge.

Edinburgh are unbeaten at home in the league for the 2019-20 Guinness PRO14 campaign having racked up three wins and it would be a good bet they’ll keep it that way.
