It was a big weekend of Guinness PRO14 action as the race for places in the Final Series got even tighter. Glasgow Warriors and Munster picked up important wins in the race for top spot in Conference A, while Benetton and Leinster played out a thrilling draw in Conference B. From a Guinness PRO14 Fantasy Rugby perspective, there were plenty of impressive outings – here are some of the stars that shone. Glasgow aces in fine fettle Three Glasgow Warriors men made the Guinness PRO14 Fantasy Rugby team of the week, with Zander Fagerson and Fraser Brown, who racked up 12 and 11 points respectively, standing out following their tries against Ulster, with Jonny Gray (11) also included. Cardiff Blues might have missed out on victory and doing the double over Munster in their clash in Cork but Rey Lee-Lo certainly caught the eye in midfield. The centre racked up 12 points, including a second-half try in a game that was close for the best part of an hour before Munster pulled away. Munstermen flex their muscles One of the reasons Munster were able to pull away was their firepower out wide, with Andrew Conway one of those who stood out. The winger went over a quarter-of-an-hour from time, as Munster were able to clinch a bonus-point win. Conway finished with 11 fantasy points and could be a key man in fantasy teams over the final weeks of the campaign. As could the impressive Conor Murray, who helped himself to 16 Guinness PRO14 Fantasy Rugby points thanks to his try and three assists. Munster’s next game is a trip to Treviso to take on Benetton, who finished honours even in a thrilling 27-27 draw against Leinster. Luca Bigi had got the ball rolling for the Italians, scoring a try from rolling maul, as he did a year ago in the same fixture. The hooker scored 11 fantasy points, with that try making him a valuable addition for owners next time around, while his teammate Federico Ruzza (12) scored a try and topped the 10-tackle mark. Ospreys duo Olly Cracknell and Justin Tipuric, who both went over in their team’s 31-14 victory over the Toyota Cheetahs – scored 11 points while Dan Evans, another try-scorer, notched 12 to continue his stand-out form. Jaco stands out from the crowd Two Leinster players – Max Deegan (11) and youngster Ciaran Frawley (11) – marked themselves out as ones to watch, as did Edinburgh’s Jaco van der Walt, who stole the show with 19 points. The South African slotted away two penalties and two conversions in his team’s 20-12 win at Scarlets, as well as passing the 10-tackle barrier and going over for a try in an impressive man-of-the-match display. Dragons centre Adam Warren, who went over in his team’s dramatic 18-18 draw with the Isuzu Southern Kings, rounds off the team with 11 points. The Guinness PRO14 Final is one of the most entertaining games in the rugby calendar and takes place in Glasgow’s Celtic Park on May 25. Tickets start at just £25 for adults, £1 for kids.
