Contrasting feelings of ecstasy and heartbreak aside, Leo Cullen and Wayne Pivac were both finally able to put their feet up as the Guinness PRO14 season came to an end last weekend.

In addition to the two head coaches of Leinster and Scarlets, the many thousands that have spent 2017-18 playing Guinness PRO14 Fantasy Rugby were also able to look back upon their season’s endeavours.

If you dominated your friends and colleagues, or even made your mark globally, the chances are you may have had one or two players that made the 2017-18 Guinness PRO14 Fantasy Rugby Dream Team.

Here’s a look at Guinness PRO14 stars that racked up the most fantasy points during the season.

Front row

Starring in the Toyota Cheetahs’ debut season in the Guinness PRO14 was Torsten van Jaarsveld, who racked up 103 points, scoring six tries and making 10 or more tackles 11 times.

He is joined in the front row by the Dragons’ Elliot Dee and Connacht’s Finlay Bealham, who scored six and four tries respectively.

Second row

Tadhg Beirne wasn’t quite able to help the Scarlets overcome Leinster in the Guinness PRO14 Final but he at least ranks as the top-scoring second-rower, racking up 139 points having scored seven tries, met the 10-tackle count nine times and having collected three man-of-the-match awards.

His partner is the Southern Kings’ Bobby de Wee, who made 10 or more tackles a whopping 17 times.

Back row

In the back row, Glasgow Warriors flanker Callum Gibbins leads the way with 112 points to his name, having scored six tries this season.

Max Deegan is the only man representing champions Leinster, with Zebre’s Johan Meyer lining up alongside him.

Half-backs

The half-backs contain this season’s top fantasy points-scorer – none other than Ulster scrum-half John Cooney.

Cooney was a peerless source of points all season, kicking 30 penalties and 25 conversions, as well as registering 10 assists and four tries to rack up a grand total of 164.

Meanwhile, Carlo Canna is the season’s leading fly-half – 20 penalties and 20 conversions helping him reach 133 points.

Centres

Ulster’s Stuart McCloskey and the Cheetahs’ Francois Venter were this term’s standouts at centre, recording 112 and 100 points respectively.

McCloskey, who scored five tries, completed 10 50-metre runs and also passed the 10-tackle count eight times.

Outside backs

Naturally, there were plenty of big-scoring outside backs and Scarlets winger Steff Evans is top of the pile, with eight tries and eight assists helping contribute to his 121-point haul.

He is joined by club-mate Johnny McNicholl, who bagged a hat-trick in the Guinness PRO14 Final as Scarlets were bested by Leinster and recorded 113 points.
