Media watch is back brimming with news on possible call-ups, title ambitions and a closer look at the fast-starting Scarlets.

We start in South Africa though where Ulster are still reeling from that record-breaking loss to the Toyota Cheetahs in Bloemfontein. Dan McFarland’s side now take on the Isuzu Southern Kings, looking to come away from their tour with something, and according to the Belfast Telegraph, they could be set to call on the services of Stuart McCloskey after hurting more than just their pride against the Cheetahs. Michael Lowry, James Hume and Billy Burns are all said to be struggling but McFarland remains bullish about his team.

The Cheetahs have been the story of the first two weeks of the season, recording bonus-point wins over Glasgow Warriors and then Ulster. That follows their Currie Cup success, and full-back Rhyno Smith is already dreaming of adding more silverware to the collection according to Sport24.

Like the Cheetahs, the Scarlets are two from two under new head coach Brad Mooar, having knocked off Connacht and the Warriors. He is not the only new face in the coaching staff, with Glenn Delaney having come in as defence coach, and he told the Scarlets website just how the focus on line speed has paid off for the region over the first two rounds.

Staying in Wales, the Dragons ended their long wait for an away victory by beating Zebre this week. But new man in charge Dean Ryan finds himself coping with a number of long-term injuries, including Josh Lewis and Brandon Nansen. Lewis is potentially out for the season with torn knee ligaments, while Nansen could be out until the new year with a broken arm. Ryan explained to the South Wales Argus that there is no budget to bring in reinforcements, so instead he will be placing his faith in youth.
