Not only were there some outrageously entertaining matches played in the Guinness PRO14 last weekend but there were some eye-popping tries scored in them too.

Scarlets started with a scorcher while Benetton finished with a bullocking drive and in between that there were some pretty silky skills on display.

Here’s the best of the bunch:

Gareth Davies – Scarlets

Dan Jones slammed an outrageous no look inside pass into the chest of Leigh Halfpenny who cut a perfect line to open Edinburgh up.

The full-back then had just enough to time to find Gareth Davies, running the perfect support line as he so often does.

Halfpenny’s offload to him left the scrum-half to use a wicked side step to finish the move off.

As stunning as the try was, it was ultimately in vain as Scarlets suffered a second-half collapse to allow Edinburgh back in to rip the carpet out from under their feet.

Sam Arnold – Munster

CJ Stander was the star of the show off the bench as Munster beat Cardiff Blues but Sam Arnold did not turn down the invitation to get himself noticed on his first appearance since January.

Fellow replacement JJ Hanrahan went dancing through the Welsh defenders before offloading to Andrew Conway who duly passed it on one more to Arnold to slide over in the corner.

An impressive way to mark his return.

Iliesa Ratuva Tavuyara – Benetton Rugby

It wasn’t just the nature of Iliesa Ratuva Tavuyara’s try that caught the eye this week but also the timing.

As the clock ticked into the red in Dublin the Benetton winger ran into trouble and looked to have been halted but a few shakes and steps saw him suddenly freed from the grips of the defenders and over the try line.

His score brought Benetton back to within two of Leinster and when Tommaso Allan knocked over the conversion to signal the final play of the game, the scores were tied.

That draw was enough to keep Benetton in the top three and still right in the hunt for a Guinness PRO14 Final Series place with two rounds to go.

Harlon Klaasen – Isuzu Southern Kings

Another unlikely draw in the Guinness PRO14 last weekend between Isuzu Southern Kings and the Dragons but this time the pick of the bunch came from Harlon Klaasen.

The powerful outside centre was the beneficiary of an overlap but still had a lot of ground to make up when the ball reached him.

Going off the back of a ruck around midfield, the Kings opened up the space perfectly. When Klaasen got the ball from flanker Andisa Ntsila he was still a long way out but he turned on the afterburners and raced away from the covering defence.

Tomos Williams – Cardiff Blues

Despite their loss in Cork, Cardiff Blues started the brightest against Munster and it was through Rey Lee-Lo’s awesome break away that Tomos Williams was able to secure the first score of the game.

The centre cut a great angle to rip through the heart of the Munstermen before finding Williams in support to finish off the job.

That took Williams’ tally in the Guinness PRO14 this season to three, and coincidentally they have all come against Munster, scoring a double in the first meeting of the teams back in September.
