The first six weeks have been dominated by the Irish giants with reigning Champions Leinster topping Conference A unbeaten and Munster leading the way in Conference B having lost only once. Leinster have conceded the fewest tries and points across the competition so far. Opposition teams have crossed their line only nine times in six matches.

They also have missed the fewest tackles with 21. Ironically they are joined on 21 by the lowly Ospreys who despite losing five matches have only notched up one losing bonus point. Connacht have the highest tackle percentage – 99.2% – staggering, and have only lost two games, whilst Ulster, second in their Conference make the most team tackles, nearly twice as many as Glasgow Warriors who are surprisingly the team that misses the most tackles at this stage of the season – missing on average 7.5 tackles a game.

Now there’s a whole host of factors to consider when choosing your individual players. Playing factors in attack and defence are one thing but form is another as well as selection and who the opposition are. Who would be a coach, eh?

There has been however some scintillating performances so far this season and there are key players to look out for.

Top of the list is all-action full-back Rhyno Smith of the Toytota Cheetahs, who has racked up seven tries as well as 14 clean breaks ahead of Edinburgh duo Duhan van der Merwe and Mark Bennett.
